Review of a Proton Waja 2001
This are a few things noticed in a Proton Waja, 2001 model. The first problem with my Proton Waja was with the driver's electric window that failed after about a year and in the following years the same happened to the rest of the electric windows. Besides that, also the door handles of the Proton Waja had to be changed and the four absorbers need to be changed soon also. The quality of the Proton Waja doesn't exactly impress me right now. Bad execution of the car makes you change a few things over the years, but overall is a fun car to drive. If you don't mind all the small things that need to be changed, then a Proton Waja could be for your. Especially if you can't afford anything else.

Proton Waja Chancellor description
Five years after the Proton Waja was launched, it was time for a new version of the car. Don't get me wrong, I'm talking about a new Proton Waja variant, not just a visual update. I'm talking about the Proton Waja Chancellor, a long wheelbase version with a bigger engine.
Some time before the launch of the Proton Waja Chancellor, the car was used by the reprezentatives of the Asean nations at their meeting. This limousine version of the Waja has a 2.0L V6 with 148HP, a maximum speed of 205km/h and a 4 speed automatic transmission.
Another year later, the Proton Waja got its own malaysian engine, the Campro.

The Proton Waja
The Proton Waja is a malaysian car, the first built by Proton without outside help, except for the engines, which were taken from Mitsubishi. Later Proton Waja got its own malaysian engine, a 1.3L.
The Proton Waja 1.6 has 102HP and a maximum speed of 190km/h with the 5 speed manual or 185km/h with the 4 speed automatic.
Proton begun working on the Waja model at the end of the 1990's and the car was launched in the year 2000. The quality lacked a bit at first, but it improved in time, especially in the interior. For a brief period of time the Proton Waja even had a european engine, the one used for the Renault Laguna. It only lasted one year though, due to the lack of spare parts for european engines in Malaysia.
